In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The situation with Iran

Benjamin Netanyahu is stating that he believes a peace agreement can be reached with the PLO.  He would like to have face-to-face talks with Mahmood Abbas every 2 weeks.  Israel Beiteinu headed by Israel Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has threatened to quit the government if Benjamin Netanyahu extends the settlement building freeze in the West Bank scheduled to end on September 26.  Furthermore, members of Netanyahu’s Likud party will protest a decision to extend the settlement freeze also.  However, some believe that Netanyahu’s government will not collapse over the direct peace talks.  The USA would like to see the Israeli government extend the settlement freeze.  Netanyahu is considering a plan to extend the settlement freeze except for the large settlement blocs which Israel intends to keep in a peace agreement with the PLO.  Netanyahu would like the direct talks to focus on Israel’s security before the issue of borders for a PLO state is discussed.

With the PLO, all groups oppose direct talks with Israel except Fatah (Mahmood Abbas) who accepted because of heavy pressure from the USA.   Hamas canceled a unity meeting with Fatah and is advocating going to war with Israel.

It would seem that the success of the direct talks continuing is dependent upon Israel’s decision regarding whether it will extend the West Bank settlement freeze or not.  Netanyahu must make a decision whether he wants to extend the settlement freeze by September 26.

Meanwhile, Debkafile reports that a secret agreement was made between the USA and Israel whereas Israel would not object to Iran starting its nuclear reactor at Bushehr in exchange for the USA not pressing Israel should the direct talks come to an impasse but the USA has reneged on that agreement.

Former UN chief of nuclear inspections Olli Heinonen has enough low-enriched uranium to produce one to two nuclear weapons in 1 year.  The US is leaning toward attacking Iran but is in talks with Israel about how to deal with Syria, Lebanon, Hizbullah and Hamas should war happen.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The situation with Iran
3) Is Obama a Muslim?

Israel and the PLO have agreed to direct talks. They will start September 2 in the USA. Israel didn’t want to have direct talks that were based upon preconditions. So the USA made a request that Israel enter direct talks based upon a US invitation to Israel that didn’t mention any preconditions.  As a result, Israel accepted the invitation. Israel views their acceptance to be only based upon the US statement of invitation.

 The PLO only wanted to accept direct talks if Israel agreed to a the following:

1) A permanent building freeze in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
2) Israel would agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital
3) There would be a time limit given to conclude any agreement

      In order to satisfy the PLO demands, the Quartet (USA, European Union, Russia and the UN) made a statement supporting the PLO goals. As a result, the PLO accepted the invitation to direct talks. The PLO views their acceptance of direct talks to be based only on the Quartet statement.

      In order to get Israel and the PLO to agree to direct talks, the USA made contradictory statements.  The USA made a statement through Hilliary Clinton that the direct talks were not based upon preconditions to satisfy Israel. Because the USA is a member of the Quartet, the Quartet made a statement regarding the goals of the direct talks that were consistent with the PLO demands to satisfy the PLO. Other PLO organizations signed a document that they were opposed to direct talks with Israel.

         The length of time given for the direct talks to resolve all outstanding issues are 1 year. I believe that Obama would like to see an agreement on the borders of a PLO state by the November election even if all the other issues are not fully resolved.  I believe that Obama wants to have direct talks to expose whether Benjamin Netanyahu really is willing to agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders. If Netanyahu is bluffing about his desire for a PLO state, I believe that Obama will want to blame Israel for the failure of the direct talks.  In order to pressure Netanyahu to agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders, I believe that the USA will threaten to recognize the borders of  PLO through the United Nations Security Council.  Therefore, Obama desires to have these direct talks to pressure Israel into making an agreement to have a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

        Hizbollah is preparing for war with Israel. They have built an elaborate network of tunnels in Lebanon which they believe will aid them in a future war with Israel.  According to Debkafile military sources,  Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Hizbollah and Hamas are ready and prepared to go to war with Israel at any moment.  Mahmood Abbas is quoted as saying that direct talks with Israel will not go far because “a big military surprise awaits the Middle East.” Possibly in anticipation of war in the Middle East, Harvard University stock fund sells all Israel holdings. 

        Iran is starting its Beshehr nuclear reactor on August 21 with Russian support.  Many believe that this makes a US war with Iran inevitable. Meanwhile, the USA is seeking to convince Israel that there is no threat for Iran to have a nuclear bomb in the next year.

The USA and Israel have agreed on the need to move the Israel / PLO peace process to direct talks. The PLO wants the Quartet (USA, Europe, Russia and the UN) to release a public statement like the March 19 statement against Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem and a PLO state based upon 1967 borders in order for the PLO to agree to direct talks.  As a result, EU representative Catherine Ashton is drawing up a preliminary draft.  In a NY Times editorial, the PLO are urged to agree to direct talks because this is the only way to test Netanyahu’s desire for a PLO state based upon 1967 borders.  Finally, it was reported in a London based Arab newspaper that Netanyahu is willing to offer a withdrawal from 90% of the West Bank as part of an interim agreement.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

3) An IMF plan to have one world currrency

The USA and Israel have agreed on the need to move the Israel / PLO peace process to direct talks. The USA has imposed heavy pressure on the PLO to agree to direct talks. A week or so ago, the Arab league agreed on the need for direct talks but allowed for Mahmood Abbas to decide on the timing to start them. At the moment, Mahmood Abbas is resisting going to direct talks demanding that Israel agree that a PLO state will be based upon the June 4, 1967 borders and end settlement construction in the West Bank and East Jerusalem before he agrees to direct talks. Meanwhile, the PLO has made a peace offer to Israel given to George Mitchell in the middle of July. Israel hasn’t made an official comment to the peace offer.

I believe that Obama is pushing for direct talks so that the USA can ultitmately pressure Israel to agree on the borders of a PLO state. Earlier in the year, Obama promised Abbas that he would pressure Israel to agree to a PLO state at the end of the process of indirect talks which are scheduled to be from May 9 – September 9.  However, in order for Obama to fulfill his promise, he politically needs Abbas to agree to direct talks. Therefore, direct talks would be to the benefit of the PLO. However, the PLO seems to be more interested in trying to humiliate Israel while trying to get an agreement for a PLO state than actually doing what is needed to actually get one.  In Obama’s frustration, he “threatened” the PLO that there would be “consequences” if they would not enter into direct talks. George Mitchell is going to the Middle East next week to try to finalize an agreement to start direct talks.

Regarding Iran, it has claimed to have smuggled anti aircraft missile systems into the country.  The USA has announced it will reduce the number of troops in Iraq to 50,000. Currently, Iraq is without a functioning government.  Will a US withdrawal from Iraq leave a vacuum in the Middle East and threaten Saudi Arabia and Israel as incumbent Shi’ite Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki is likely to be friendly toward Iran.

The update was expanded this week to include prophetic analysis of the Arizona immigration issue and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Israel has made a deal to ease the Gaza blockade.  Iran is sending flotilla ships to the Gaza. Mahmood Abbas declares that the US and PLO position on the peace process is identical. Defense Minister Ehud Barak says that Israel needs to make a “daring initiative” regarding an offer for a PLO state to prevent international isolation.  The Israel high court made a ruling that enraged the Orthodox Jewish community in Israel increasing the rift between secular and religious in Israel.

Regarding the US economy, June homebuilder sentiment fell at its greatest rate since November 2008. Meanwhile, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae common stock is being delisted from NY stock exchanges and thus have no public value.

US citizens are being advised to not go into Southern Arizona and the US government is seeking to sue Arizona over its immigration law.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is possibly more serious than what it being reported in the national media and might be so bad that it will not be possible to stop oil from leaking into the Gulf of Mexico. This could lead to the tribulation judgment of the waters becoming bitter (Revelation 8). This oil spill could be associated with a prophetic vision of A.A. Allen in the 1950′s.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on three things:

The USA desires that there be an international probe into the Gaza incident.  The USA halted a project to prevent arms from being smuggled into the Gaza through the Philadelphi route which divides the Gaza from the Sinai peninsula.  The head of the Arab League will make his first visit to the Gaza. Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan is also considering visiting the Gaza to break the blockade.  Iran and Hamas are seeking a global anti-Israel bloc in support of ending the Gaza blockade. Abba met with Abbas this week in Washington and pledged $400 million dollars in aid to the Gaza stating that the situation in the Gaza is “unsustainable” and predicted “real progress” in the coming months to establish a PLO state.  Regarding a future PLO state, Obama stated that Israel must ensure equal rights for Israeli Arabs who live in Israel.  Kadima leader, Tzipi Livni criticized the Israeli government over the Gaza incident saying that Israel can do more to save itself from global isolation.

Meanwhile, Mahmood Abbas stated that he is not interested in direct talks with Israel as long as their is no progress in indirect talks.  Iran has pledged to send ships to support the ending of the Gaza blockade and anticipating a possible war, Israel has asked the USA to increase the supply of weapons to them.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on two things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) Economic reports of the health of the US economy

This past week,  a Gaza flotilla ship entered the coast of Israel.  The political purpose was to gather world opinion to lift the Israeli blockade of the Gaza.  There was a skirmish.  People on the boat were killed.  Israel claimed they were terrorists and that some of the cargo on the ship was for military purposes.  Despite regretting the loss of life, Israel maintained that the blockade of the Gaza will continue so that arm shipments do not get into the hands of Hamas.

This effort was encouraged by Turkey. Turkey has now embraced Iran and Hamas and are supporting them in the region along with Syria.

The USA indicated that they would stand against a UN investigation into the flotilla incident in exchange for concessions in the Israeli-Palestinians peace process.  Abbas express a desire to not suspend indirect talks. Israel Defense Minister Ehud Barak does not want to suspend indirect talks.  Abbas indicated that the PLO is not negotiating with Israel but with the USA.  The prime minister of Lebanon expressed desire that the USA would impose a peace solution.  In preparations to support a future PLO state, the PLO are considering creating their own currency. Israel subs containing nuclear missiles are in the Persian gulf.

Finally, Ehud Barak (Labor) and Tzipi Livni (Kadima) have had discussions about Kadima joining the current Israeli government. If this happens, it will be a sign that Israel is most likely going to sign a peace agreement as Kadima supports an agreement to establish a PLO state.

Regarding Iran, there is growing signs of US preparations to attack Iran. First, it has okayed reconnaissance missions over Iran. Secondly, a US nuclear submarine has crossed the Strait of Hormuz.  Thirdly, Syria has 1,000 ballistic missiles aimed at Israel. It looks like there could be a regional war in the Middle East this summer or fall.

Regarding the US economy, the M3 money supply contracted at a rate of nearly 10%.  The M3 money supply has not fallen this much since the Great Depression.  in 2010 1Q, FHA home financing has exceeded financing done by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac indicating that the home market is on life support.

The collapse of the US dollar and the world economy is a tribulation event.

From a Biblical prophetic perspective, the reason why the God of Israel would allow these events to happen is because it will result in the end of the exile of the house of Jacob and the reunification of the 12 tribes of Israel (Ephraim and Judah).

We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on three things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The USA and Iranian nuclear issue
3) Economic reports of the health of the US economy

Regarding the current situation with the Israel / PLO peace process,  peace talks will last for 4 months until September.  Obama reiterated that if peace talks fail that he will seek to impose a solution. The PLO offered to accept NATO troops in a future PLO state.  According to the PLO, final status issues were discussed in this weeks indirect talks. The PLO is willing to do a small land exchange with Israel as part of a peace agreement.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

Regarding Iran, Russia said that they intend to sell advanced missile systems to them.  In the past week, Russia solidified an alliance between them, Syria, Iran and Turkey.  Meanwhile, the USA is sending more aircraft carriers to the Gulf and plan on having 4 or 5 aircraft carriers within striking distance of Iran in late July or early August.

Regarding the US economy, 10% of all US homeowners missed at least one mortgage payment in the first quarter of 2010. In addition, 10% of US banks are on the problem watch list.
