In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The Federal Reserve is the largest holder of US Debt
3) The prospects for war with Iran

Arab Nations have submitted a UN resolution to condemn Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  No vote is expected until at least after the February 5 quartet meeting in Germany.  Russian President Dmitry Medvedev went to the Middle East this week and stated support for a PLO state with East Jerusalem as its capital while declaring Israel settlements as illegal. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, says that in the view of the UN that Israeli building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem is illegal. It seems that we are beginning to see the fulfillment of Zechariah 12:1-3. The Washington Institute for Near East studies released its ideas for the border of a PLO state with Israel. Israel Defense Minister Ehud Barak left being leader of the Labor party and formed his own political party along with 4 other former Labor party members. The other 8 members of Labor quit the government coalition of Benjamin Netanyahu.  There are now 66 members in the Netanyahu government. Netanyahu says that this move will make the current Israeli government stronger. As a result, this makes it more credible that the present Netanyahu government will not collapse in the near future. In my opinion, this move was made to strengthen the Israeli government against world pressure to submit to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

The Federal Reserve is now the largest holder of US Debt. They own 5.35 Trillion. Foreign nations own about 25% of the US Debt.  Why does the Federal Reserve own so much debt? It is not able to be financed any other way. The US debt is now nearly 100% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).  This will lead to the collapse of the US dollar and hyperinflation.

A collapse of the US dollar and the establishment of one world currency is a tribulation event.

Regarding Iran, quartet representative Tony Blair says that the West must prepare to use force against Iran.

A US war with Iran is a tribulation event.

From a Biblical prophetic perspective, the reason why the God of Israel would allow these events to happen is because it will result in the end of the exile of the house of Jacob and the reunification of the 12 tribes of Israel (Ephraim and Judah).

We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The US economy in 2011

The Palestinians still insist that they will not talk with Israel if they build in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  In the meantime, the PLO continues to lobby nations to recognize a PLO state based upon the 1967 borders. Guyana is the latest nation to do so.  The PLO say that their goal in doing this is to give them better leverage in negotiating with Israel.  Meanwhile, the PLO say that they will seek for UN Security Council recognition of a PLO state based upon 1967 borders in September, 2011.  When it does, Norway says that it will be the first EU state to recognize it.  EU consuls-general in Israel are demanding that Israel quit building in East Jerusalem.  The PLO say that the US is not working hard enough to create a PLO state.  The PLO plans to seek a UN Security Council vote in the coming week against Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. While the US agrees in the principal with the resolution, it says that it will veto this measure and seek to restart direct talks with the two sides.  The US held talks with Israel and the PLO representatives this week in Washington.  The US has convened several task forces to recommend ways to get the peace talks going. It appears that the task force will recommend that the US will present it own peace initiative and present the outline of a final status settlement to the PLO and Israel. If this is done, it most likely will be at the end of January.  This would create the environment to discuss the US plan at the scheduled meeting of the Quartet (UN, EU, USA and Russia) on February 5 in Germany regarding the current situation with the Israel / PLO peace process.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

US banks repossessed over 1 million US homes in 2010.  It is expected that there will be 1.2 million in 2011. 2% of all US homes received a foreclosure notice in 2010. The US Federal budget deficit is expected to exceed 1 Trillion dollars again in 2011.  Because of these things, Americans believe that China is a greater economic power in the world today rather than the US.  Citigroup executives warn that sovereign debt fears will spread to the USA and Japan this year. CBS 60 minutes did a TV segment in December indicating that US states and cities are facing massive budget deficits this year and will create a municipal bond crisis in the USA and possible bankruptcy of some states and cities.

A collapse of the US dollar and the establishment of one world currency is a tribulation event.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The possibility of a $14 Trillion dollar US Federal Debt creating a US Financial Crisis

The US is displeased with Israel Defense Minister Ehud Barak that he hasn’t been able to persuade PM Benjamin Netanyahu since April 2009 to agree to a PLO state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He will no longer receive preferential treatment in relations with the USA. The US has already shown its displeasure toward Benjamin Netanyahu in the past year in a variety of ways. This makes it increasingly likely that the USA will promote policies which are anti-Israel in the near future. Because of the present stalemate in talks, the US will have to decide in the coming weeks how they should approach the next steps. Will they present their own peace agreement? Will they endorse a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in the United Nations? Will they endorse the condemnation of Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the United Nations? The PLO have given the USA maps of their view of a PLO state. However, the USA has been unsuccessful in convincing Israel to put on the table its view of the borders of a future PLO state. Tony Blair representing the Quartet (US, EU, Russian and the UN) told Israel that the international community only has weeks and not months to restart peace talks. The EU’s foreign minister Catherine Ashton suggests there needs to be a Quartet meeting in early February regarding the peace process. Meanwhile, there are calls for the US to impose their own peace plan upon Israel and the PLO. This has been suggested by Howard Sachar in an article in the current issue of “Foreign Affairs” magazine which is the magazine of the Council of Foreign Relations. This view is also stated in the current issue of the “Economist” magazine. David Makovsky who is the director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy which is a Washington think-tank to promote the views of the US in foreign policy is reportedly ready to present suggested maps for the borders of a PLO state in late January. The PLO is planning to have their draft resolution to condemn Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem submitted to the UN Security Council in the coming week. They are also calling upon the Quartet to submit their own imposed peace plan. Meanwhile, Chile announced its recognition of a PLO based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Netanyahu says that he is willing to talk with Abbas as long as it takes to reach a peace agreement. However, he says that the PLO must modify their position regarding recognizing Israel as a Jewish state, dropping their demand for a Palestinian refugee “right of return” and be flexible with security arrangements with Israel on the ground. If there isn’t a possibility of reaching a peace agreement by this March or April, the Labor party (13 seats) is threatening to leave the coalition government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

The US National debt is now over $14 Trillion dollars. If all of this debt was refinanced at 5% then it would cost $700 billion dollars a year in interest. If all of this debt was refinanced at 10% then it would cost $1.4 Trillion a year in interest. The US cannot afford interest rates over 5% anymore because it will endanger that the US government could go bankrupt.

A collapse of the US dollar and the establishment of one world currency is a tribulation event.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) Predictions of oil going to $150 a barrel and gas to be $5 a gallon

Netanyahu says the core element of the conflict with the PLO is their refusal to recognize the existence of Israel.  The PLO have drafted a document stating that building in the West Bank and East Jersualem is illegal and is worded to gain the support of the US as a UN Security Council resolution. They plan to present this to the UN Security Council in January. However the US said that they are opposed to this action even though they view building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem by Israel as being illegal. Mahmood Abbas also stated his desire that the Quartet (US, EU, UN and Russia) needs to present a peace plan in accordance with existing UN Resolutions regarding the peace process.  Meanwhile, the PLO continues to prepare for statehood for August 2011 which is supported by the UN.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

5) Abbas urges Quartet to draft new peace plan
6) Fayyad: PA will declare independent state in August 2011
7) UN backs Palestinian plans for statehood by August

In late October, Pastor Lindsey Williams announced that in talking to his globalist elite friend, Kenneth Fromm, the ex-CEO of Atlantic Richfield that oil would be $150 a barrel by 2012 and gas would reach $5 a gallon. JPMorgan has forcasted oil to be $120 a barrel in 2011.  The CEO of Gulf Oil says that oil could be $150 a barrel by summer. Finally, the ex-CEO of Shell Oil says that oil could be $5 a gallon in 2012. High oil prices could cause inflation and cause bond prices to collapse resulting in the collapse of the US dollar.

A collapse of the US dollar and the establishment of one world currency is a tribulation event.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process

US proposed indirect talks between Israel and the PLO following the failure to achieve an extended settlement freeze in the West Bank has collapsed this week.  The PLO have told the US that they will not hold indirect or direct talks as long as Israel builds on the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The US wanted Netanyahu to present his ‘final borders’ map to the US but he refused to do so.  Meanwhile the PLO are drafting a statement to be submitted to the UN Security Council declaring the settlement building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem as being illegal.  The UN Secretary General stated that a settlement freeze is a top UN agenda and that the Palestinians have an ‘inalienable right for their independence’.  Bolivia has joined Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela and Uruguay in recognizing an independent PLO state based upon 1967 borders.  Ten EU countries are scheduled to upgrade their diplomatic relations with the PLO.  Mahmood Abbas said that he will not allow any Jew to live in a PLO state.  A Hamas commander said that Israel has no right to exist.  Mahmood Abbas announced that he finalized an agreement with former PM Ehud Olmert on security issues that has been submitted to the UN Security Council. Chabad rabbi Dov Wolpe of the Eretz Yisrael Shelanu movement stated in a Jerusalem rally that should Israel seek to evacuate any settlements that his organization will declare an independent state in the West Bank.

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The current situation with Iran

After failing to reach an agreement with Israel to extend the settlement freeze in the West Bank for an additional 3 months, Hilliary Clinton proposed that Israel and the PLO have separate talks with the US for six weeks to determine how to go forward with a negotiated peace agreement.  During these proposed talks, the US wants Israel to define their vision for the borders of a PLO state. If these talks fail, the US said that they would be willing to offer bridging proposals. However, the PLO rejected having talks about the peace process as long as Israel continues to build in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  Instead the PLO along with the Arab League proposes that the UN Security Council will pass a resolution condemning Israel building in the West Bank and East Jersualem.  Furthermore, the PLO would like to have the EU recognize a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.  The EU said that they would recognize a PLO state “when appropriate” but prefers negotiations in the immediate future.  The US is not applying political pressure against Latin American countries who have started the process to recognize a PLO state based upon 1967 borders.  The US violated diplomatic protocol by speaking with Israeli opposition leader Tzipi Livni when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the US recently to meet with Hilliary Clinton regarding the peace process.  By doing this, the USA was sending a clear message to Netanyahu that they are displeased with how he is handling the peace process. Recognition by the international community of a PLO state through a UN Security Council resolution will most likely lead to a regional war in the Middle East as Israel would rebel from such a unilateral declaration.  If Israel does not achieve a peace agreement with Israel in the next several months, the Labor party headed by Ehud Barak is threatening to leave the Netanyahu government.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

1)  Listen to the audio

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process

In order to understand where things are going in the peace process, we need to review the positions of the USA, Israel and the PLO on the different issues:

US POSITION

1) The settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are ILLEGAL and are an obstacle to creating a PLO state
2) The US wants a framework agreement for a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital making Jerusalem an international city
3) Security arrangements with Israel will include an international peace keeping force in the region

EUROPEAN UNION POSITION

1) Settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are ILLEGAL and are an obstacle to creating a PLO state
2) The EU desires to see a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital
3) If Israel doesn’t agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders and cease building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem then the EU is threatening Israel with economic sanctions

PLO POSITION

1) Settlements in the West Bank and East Jersualem are ILLEGAL and will not accept Jews in a PLO state
2) A PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital
3) No Israeli troops can be a part of an international peace keeping force to secure a peace agreement
4) The PLO will not recognize Israel as a Jewish state
5) The PLO insists on the right of return of “refugees” with compensation

ISRAEL POSITION

1) A demilitarized PLO state
2) In any peace deal, Israel will annex the large settlement blocs
3) Israel will maintain a military presence on its eastern border along the Jordan Valley
4) Israel can build in the West Bank and East Jerusalem until a framework peace agreement is made
5) The PLO needs to recognize Israel as a Jewish state

OTHER ISSUES:

1) The international community is supporting the efforts to establish the institutions for a PLO state by August 2011
2) The international community is providing funding to help to create a PLO state without first establishing that PLO state through negotiations
3) In May 2010, the US told the PLO that should talks fail that the US will assign blame for the failure of the peace talks
4) In early 2010, the US told the PLO that they were willing to consider the establishment of a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital through the United Nations
5) Various international nations are recognizing a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital prior to a negotiated agreement between the PLO and Israel

POLITICAL ANALYSIS:

1) Right now, the US would prefer to see an establishment of a PLO state through negotiations (putting pressure on Israel to agree to a PLO state). The EU is more willing to impose a PLO state through the United Nations and threaten Israel with economic sanctions should it not agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders.
2) The US will make one final effort to get Israel to agree to a negotiated peace agreement
3) The US and EU position is similar to the PLO position. This makes it inevitable that the US and EU will put increasing pressure (political and economic) on Israel to agree to a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
4) Should the US be unsuccessful in its effort to get Israel to agree to a negotiated agreement, the US will most likely announce it own peace plan or will recognize a PLO state based upon 1967 borders at the United Nations
5) Should a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital be recognized through the UN Security Council, it will result in a rebellion in Israel against the UN resolution and Israel will declare an end to the Oslo process and the Roadmap.
6) Should a PLO state based upon 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital be recognized through the UN Security Council, there will be a rebellion in the West Bank and leaders in the West Bank will declare their independence.
7) Disagreement over these issues will likely result in a regional Mideast war
8)  These things are all likely to happen in 2011

The US, Israel and the PLO failed to reach an agreement for Israel to extend a settlement freeze in the West Bank. The US was offering various incentives to Israel in exchange for a 3 month extension of a settlement freeze. During these 3 months, the US wanted Israel to agree to the borders of a PLO state.  The US would not put in writing that the settlement freeze excluded East Jerusalem. The US concluded that it could not be guaranteed that Israel would agree to the borders of a PLO state during the 3 months of the proposed extended settlement freeze. The US didn’t want to be put in a position to negotiate with Israel a further settlement freeze after the proposed 3 months so it decided to declare that talks had failed.  In doing so, the US insisted that it does not support Israel building in the West Bank and East Jerusualem.  Former European leaders blamed Israel for the failure in extending the settlement freeze and recommended that economic sanctions be placed upon Israel. Fatah refuses to recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  The PLO refuses to have either direct or indirect peace talks if Israel continues to build in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  The PLO will try to lobby the international community to recognize a PLO state based upon 1967 borders and then pressure the USA to recognize a PLO state through the UN Security Council.  Egypt suggests that the Quartet submit their own peace plan and a time frame for implementation.  The US is seeking to continue to discuss the final status issues of the peace process through indirect talks with Israel and the PLO.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

13) Abbas receives letter from US about peace process
14) PA to consult with Arab powers over US peace role

We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).

In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) China and Russia made a trade agreement to not use the US dollar in trading between them

I believe that Benyamin Netanyahu does not prefer to have a PLO state because it is a threat to the existence of the state of Israel but “political correctness” causes him to continue to call for peace negotiations with the PLO.  Therefore, Benyamin Netanyahu is playing a sophisticated game of political chess. This week Israel made it more difficult to agree to the dividing of Jerusalem and thus creating a PLO state because the government of Israel passed a law that dividing Jerusalem would require a vote through a national referendum.

In a marathon 7 hour meeting between Hilliary Clinton and Benjamin Netanyahu in the USA, they discussed the parameters for a 3 month settlement freeze extension. The US has offered a variety of incentives to Israel in exchange for the proposed 3 month settlement freeze.  If the US agrees to put the proposed agreement in writing and the settlement freeze excludes East Jerusalem then Israel may get this offer agreed to in the Israel inner security cabinet because Shas (Ultra-Orthodox Sephardic party) would abstain from the vote.  If this happens, members within Netanyahu’s Likud party threaten to split the party.  However, US sees that any agreement would require that Israel must cease from building in East Jerusalem.  Netanyahu insists that in any agreement with the US that the US must put the agreement in writing and that it will not ask Israel for a further extension after the 3 months expire.  Israel Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin states that he sees that there has been a change in US / Israel relations as compared to the past and that the US no longer regards Israel as a strategic asset in the Middle East.  In order to make it more difficult to divide Jerusalem, Israel passed a law that any agreement to divide Jerusalem must be approved through a national referendum.  In any Mideast peace deal, it would be understood that NATO would have to play a significant peace keeping role.  In internal Israel politics, 80% of Israelis are dissatisfied with state and religious policy as secular and religious Jews don’t like each other.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

Russia and China have agreed to not use the US dollar in trade between the two countries.

A collapse of the US dollar and the establishment of one world currency is a tribulation event.
