In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:
1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process

The second round of direct talks have concluded. George Mitchell reports that Israel and the PLO are having serious discussions on the core issues of the conflict and the drafting of a framework agreement is progressing. In order to resolve the issue of the end of the settlement freeze on Sept 26, the US has proposed that the freeze be extended for 3 month so that there can be an agreement on borders. WND reports that Netanyahu is prepared to extend the settlement freeze, free Palestinian prisoners and transfer to the PA security control in several West Bank areas to resolve the potential crisis. The settlers see an extension of the freeze as a declaration of war against them. However, Israel’s inner cabinet voted this week to not extend the settlement freeze. Mitchell is traveling to Syria and Lebanon to update them on the results of the recent direct talks and to seek to obtain a comprehensive regional peace with Israel. Netanyahu has indicated that he is willing to withdraw from the Golan Heights to have peace with Syria. An alternative view of the Israel / PLO direct talks is that Mitchell is going to Syria because he expects the Israel / PLO peace talks to fail and he wants to start work on peace talks between Syria and Israel instead. England views Israeli settlements in the West Bank as illegal which is also the position of the European Union.
An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

The Federal Reserve has announced that it is purchasing about $27 billion in US Treasuries from Sept 15 – October 6. A Goldman Sachs person mentioned that the Federal Reserve may announce in November or December the intention to buy $1 Trillion dollars of US Treasuries. This is printing money to pay for US debt which will ultimately result in the collapse of the dollar and hyperinflation. LEAP 2020 website expects the US economy and dollar to collapse by the spring of 2011.
The devaluation of the US dollar and a collapse of the US and world economy is a tribulation event.

The US government is able to track the location of its citizens when they have with them cell phones. The state of Pennsylvania paid a private contractor to spy on US citizens expressing displeasure with US government policies. Big brother is in the USA.

From a Biblical prophetic perspective, the reason why the God of Israel would allow these events to happen is because it will result in the end of the exile of the house of Jacob and the reunification of the 12 tribes of Israel (Ephraim and Judah).
We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).
