In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on several things:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) Iran pressing Hizballah to attack Israel
3) US Department of Justice: Who is a terrorist?

Direct talks were started in the USA on September 2. Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he wants a peace agreement and that all issues should be discussed together.  Before the direct talks started in Washington D.C,  Israel Defense Minister Ehud Barak stated that Jerusalem should be divided.  In order to get Israel to negotiate a peace agreement with the PLO, President Obama is threatening to recognize a PLO state through the United Nations should peace talks fail. Following the direct talks, it was agreed that Israel and the PLO would work to try to achieve a framework peace agreement in the near future and achieve a formal peace agreement within 12 months.  The PLO are threatening to quit the direct talks if Israel decides to stop the settlement freeze in the West Bank scheduled to expire on September 26.  The PLO report that Obama has pledged to them that he will “stop the settlements”.  Eager to continue building, the settlers have vowed to resume building in over 80 settlements.  If Netanyahu does agree to a framework agreement, his right wing coalition partners may leave his government.  However, Kadima has pledged to join the Netanyahu government to support the peace process if a framework agreement is made.  Meanwhile, PLO Prime Minister Salaam Fayyad is going forward with plans to establish PLO institutions in anticipation of a PLO state in 2011.  Hamas in not in favor of a peace agreement with Israel and vows to conduct more effective attacks against Israel.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

From a Biblical prophetic perspective, the reason why the God of Israel would allow these events to happen is because it will result in the end of the exile of the house of Jacob and the reunification of the 12 tribes of Israel (Ephraim and Judah).

We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).

Shalom in Yeshua the Messiah,
