In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process

China, Spain, India, El Salvador and Honduras announced that they will support a PLO state at the UN.  So far, there are about 124 countries who have made a commitment to support a PLO state at the UN.  In order to recognize a PLO state through the UN General Assembly, there needs to be about 130 countries who support a PLO state.  The PLO believe that when the vote is taken that there will be about 140 – 150 countries who will support a PLO state.  French President Sarkozy stated that he would like to see a united EU vote at the UN.  However, individual EU nations are divided regarding whether they will support a PLO state at the UN or not.  Among the EU countries most likely to support a PLO state are:  England, France, Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Ireland, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.  The EU is working with the PLO to submit a proposal to the UN which will contain language which all 27 EU member nations can support.  Mahmood Abbas said that the PLO will not recognize Israel as a Jewish state.  Israel held security cabinet meetings to discuss how to handle the situation if the UN recognizes a PLO state through the General Assembly.  President Obama is expected to speak at the UN between September 19 and 21. The US has indicated that they will veto a request for a PLO state at the UN Security Council.  Finally,  an Orthodox Jewish religious organization is trying to promote awareness for the need to Jews to be able to assemble on the Temple Mount in preparation for the possibility of rebuilding the Temple.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

From a Biblical prophetic perspective, the reason why the God of Israel would allow these events to happen is because it will result in the end of the exile of the house of Jacob and the reunification of the 12 tribes of Israel (Ephraim and Judah).

We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).

Shalom in Yeshua the Messiah,
