In this week’s 5 minute update, we focused on:

1) The current status of the Israel / PLO peace process
2) The European Debt Crisis

The US and the EU are making a last minute attempt to persuade the PLO from submitting an application for recognition of a PLO state at the UN at the end of September.  Ex-Middle East envoy George Mitchell says that it is unlikely that the US can prevent the PLO from submitting their application to the UN.  The PLO insist that they will submit their application to the UN despite US and EU pressure. The US reiterated that they will veto the PLO request at the UN Security Council.  Israel called for the resumption of direct peace talks with the PLO. The PLO are maintaining their position that they will only enter into direct talks with Israel if Israel stops building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  Mahmood Abbas stated that the PLO is willing to have direct talks with Israel after the UN recognizes a PLO state.  The Arab League called for a boycott against Israel. The French Middle East envoy got fired for opposing a PLO state.

An agreement to divide Jerusalem and establish a PLO state is a tribulation event.

Concerns over the European debt crisis is causing some to speculate that the debt problems in Greece and Italy could cause the collapse of the euro.  As a solution to the problem, european leaders are calling for a central european financial agency.  George Soros expressed his thoughts that the european debt crisis is worse than Lehman brothers who collapsed in the fall of 2008.  Opposition is growing in Greece and Italy among the people to government austerity programs.

Worldwide economic collapse resulting in a one-world currency is a tribulation event.

From a Biblical prophetic perspective, the reason why the God of Israel would allow these events to happen is because it will result in the end of the exile of the house of Jacob and the reunification of the 12 tribes of Israel (Ephraim and Judah).

We will to be “watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem” and we will not rest until the God of Israel makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62).

Shalom in Yeshua the Messiah,
